Checklists

Shows all checklists that you have added to My Checklists in MiraCheck Cloud and also you have made Visible.

Preferences

Show Label ‘Check’ - If the value of Label 2 is the word Check this option determines if it should display the word or not. Since your co-pilot also announce CHECK when you check an item, it can be redundant for first Mira to say CHECK and the co-pilot to also say CHECK.
Store Cloud History - Determines if the history being stored on the local device should sync its data to the cloud. MiraCheck Cloud there is a panel where all history can be reviewed.
Show Local History - Shows details of each session of the checklist currently on the device. You can return to any prior checklist session by selecting it.
Focused Mode - Grays out all items except the selected one that you should be focusing on.
Always Move Forward - When set to ON, Mira will auto-advance to the next item regardless if all items are completed in the Section. When set to OFF, Mira will go back to any items that have not been checked in the Section.
Animated Scrolling - Determines if it should smoothly scroll to the next item.

Appearance

Checkbar - Allows you to configure if the Checkbar should be displayed on the right, bottom, left or not at all.
Checkbar Size - Allows you to configure the size of the Checkbar.
Horizontal - Show the Sections in a List horizontally where you scroll left-to-right to revel them.
Vertical - Show the Sections in a List vertically where you scroll up-and-down to reveal them.
Simple - Show the sections as collapsible containers with no checkboxes. In the MiraCheck Cloud Editor, you can also set for each list what the default should be for that last. The value checklistView will show checkboxes, and onePageView will show the collapsible containers. This is useful for sections like Emergency and Reference to have those default to collapsible views.
Item Alignment - Determines whether to left justify or center the columns in the screen.
Column Width - Determines the width of a column. For Single Line Item mode to work this must be set to a minimum of 360. You set Single Line Item mode in MiraCheck Cloud by opening a checklist and going to the Advanced panel on a checklist.
Items Font Size - Change the font size of items.
Checked Color - Change the color of items as they are checked.
Night Mode - Change the color of item to darker colors for viewing at night.

Mira

Audio - Toggles hearing Mira.
Say Check - If Challenge/Response mode is off then the secondary voice will say ‘Check’ on each check of an item.
Mira is Cynical - Determines if Mira says cynical comments like WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY when you do things like check all items in a section.
Voice Speed - Changes the voice speed of Mira.
Read Section Item Delay - Mira can read an entire section by clicking the Section title or if using a headset, speaking READ SECTION.
Since she will be reading each item in the section, the delay allows you to pause for a period time between each item in the section.
Primary Voice - Changes the primary voice of Mira.
Secondary Voice - Changes the secondary voice of Mira.
Bluetooth Compatibility - There are thousands and thousands of Bluetooth devices. They all have different implementation of Bluetooth. Typically Compatibility 1 should work with most devices, but if you are having issues, this lets you try different compatibility modes that may work with your device.

Talk to Mira

Talk to Mira - Toggles Mira to listen to your responses.
Limit Vocabulary - Single syllable commands can pose a problem for voice recognition engines. With this ON commands like CHECK and SKIP will not be allowed. Instead use CHECK ITEM and SKIP ITEM. Also, instead of just saying MIRA to summon her, say HEY MIRA, HELLO MIRA, MIRABEL, HEY MIRABEL or HELLO MIRABEL.
Listening Time - Determines how long Mira listens after she is done talking. The Mic turns red when she is listening and goes back to green when she is not listening. When she is not listening you have to speak the wake word (MIRA or HEY MIRA or HELLO MIRA) to have her listen for a command.
Listen in Background - Talk to Mira has to be ON for this to take effect. Turning this ON allows Mira to speak and listen to you when the app goes into the background. Turning this OFF will silence Mira and not listen to you when the app is in the background.
Challenge/Response - The Challenge/Response feature is an advanced feature that implements a true Challenge/Response system in MiraCheck. This option should be left off unless you fully understand how this mode works. The CheckMate content and current content in the system is not properly authored to effectively utilize this. You can start to explore this feature by creating your own checklist. The content you put in Label 1 is the Challenge. The content you put in Label 2 is the Response. An example would be to put in Label 1 ‘Flaps’ and put in Label 2 ‘Down’.

The way it works is Mira will read Label 1 of an item, the Challenge. You then would respond with whatever you put in Label 2, the Response. For it to work effectively it is best to have short responses, and to also keep the total number of responses across the checklist to a small number, probably 20 or less for an entire checklist.\n\nBy default, this feature is not turned on. Also, turn Talk to Mira on so you can speak your responses.
Acoustic Model - The voice recognition engine supports different acoustic models. You can try different models which may provide better accuracy with your voice.
Show Commands - Show all of the voice commands the voice recognition engine is seeing.
Audio input - Status of audio input.
Audio output - Status of audio output.
Headset - Shows if a headset is connected.
Interrupt Mira - Typically the voice-recognition is paused when Mira is speaking because she trips herself up because the voice-recognition can hear what she says. If you are using a headset then this automatically turns on so you can interrupt her as she is speaking.
Restart Audio - If switching between audio sources, you may need to restart the audio. This attempts to recycle the audio. If it still doesn’t work, try removing the app from the task manager and restarting it.

Checkbar

Skip - Skip the current item.
Check - Check the current item.
Toggle Birdseye View - Toggles between Birdseye View and the normal view.
Locate - Scroll to the currently selected item. If you get lost in your checklist click this.
Mic - Toggle Mira to listen. This effectively turns on the Talk to Mira switch.
Emergency - Only appears if you have a list named “Emergency”. Takes you to the Emergency List. - Only appears if you have a list named “Emergency”. Takes you to the Emergency List.

Completion Status

The background color of a sections title will initially be red showing that no items have yet been completed. As check items in a section, it will become yellow to show items in that sections are partially complete. Once all items are checked in a section, the background color will become green.

On the tabs at the bottom, there is a colored bar underneath each List. This is a rollup of the completion of all the Sections in a List. This will turn green when all Sections are complete for the entire List.

Miscellaneous

Items can be marked as Mandatory in the MiraCheck Cloud Editor. Any items after that will be disabled until the mandatory item is checked.

If you press-and-hold on an item, it will reveal Comments / Notes for an item.
You can scroll through sections by swiping left-and-right in Horizontal layout mode or up-and-down in Vertical and Simple layout mode.

Logbook - If you click on the clock in the top-right, it will overlay a Logbook / Flight Timer. Advanced Timers are also shown in this view.

Voice Commands

When the Mic has a slash through it listening is completely turned off.

When it is green, she is listening, but only for the wake word MIRA, HEY MIRA, HELLO MIRA, MIRABEL, HEY MIRABEL or HELLO MIRABEL.

The Mic turns red when she is listening for a command and goes back to green when she is not listening for a command. When she is not listening you have to speak the wake word to have her listen again for a command.

You can set how long she listens for commands in the menu Talk to Mira -> Listening Time.

First! It is a rare day when you can be the first one in a forum. Thanks for all the user resources and this forum.
Blue skies,
Tom

Appreciate the support!

This doesn’t seem to explain the new preferences available. Can you update to match the current preferences and order?

Thanks for the feedback. The User Guide has been updated with all of the latest features.

How does one hi lite an item on check list?
I see tool bar to use, but cannot save hi lited item , infacts locks screen.

Can you elaborate some? What do you mean highlight an item? What toolbar are you referring to? Is there a screenshot or two you can take?

Why is there no explanation in the “manual” (this post) nor the cloud editor, for “location search” nor “address search”???

We will look at adding descriptions for the item types, but most are pretty self explanatory. The location search pinpoints your current location. The address search allows you to search for any address. There currently is a bug that was discovered where the OK button is not being laid out properly. It functions but looks ugly. This is something we will address in an upcoming release.

Please don’t assume things are self explanatory just because they seem so to you and some users. I love this app for the spoken call/response checklist functionality it provides, but it is a very unintuitive, not self explanatory experience to build and edit checklists. Please consider at least adding a help link button to the editor screen that takes you to a manual for explaining use cases and examples of using some of the less obvious features like location and address.

I want to have a checklist skip certain items when I’m in a certain place. Location and Address seem like they might have something to do with that, but it’s completely unclear how to use them in this context.

When I said they are self-explanatory I was saying that based on the title of the component, it mostly describes what it does.

  • Checkbox - a checkbox that confirms you did an item.
  • Text Input - a text input to enter a short amount of text.
  • Text Input (Multiline) - a text input where you enter a larger amount of text.
  • Yes / No - a yes/no question,
  • Picker - a pick list where you an select from items that you define. There is a Picker View Type that is a scrollable list and a Button View types that presents them as buttons.
  • Date Picker - select a date.
  • Time Picker - select a time.
  • Date/Time Picker - select a date and time.
  • Weather - shows the current weather at wherever you are at.
  • Address Search - searches for an address.
  • Location search - pinpoints you current location on a map.
  • Media Upload - allows you to upload a photo.
  • Sketch Pad - allows you to sketch on the screen.

You are asking to be able to do something like skip certain items when you are in a certain place, but honestly that is something that wouldn’t be documented because we don’t yet support something like that. The reason for a forum like this is to pose questions like that and have the community or our company try to understand what you are trying to do and either give instructions if it is capable, or at least relay the info that something like that isn’t currently supported. If there is enough user interest in some features then it can result in us implementing things the community wants.

Currently the Location Search just pinpoints wherever you are currently located on a map. It is just used to document maybe where you start a flight and where you end a flight. The reason Location and Address Search were introduced is there are drone pilots using the product and they had requirements like that. The function doesn’t do any more than document your current position or at least allow you to move and zoom the map. You can also press-and-hold on the pin and move it around if you wanted to move the position that you want to document.

I would be interested in you elaborating exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Are you saying if you are in a certain geolocation you want the checklist to dynamically change because of where you are at?

Sure, an example use case is

Flying regularly back and forth between an airport A that has self-serve avgas pumps, and another airport B that has FBO fuel truck on request, I’d want to have my routine pre-flight checklist change automatically based on where I was. For airport A I’d want to be told to taxi over to get fuel AFTER engine startup. For airport B, I’d want to be told to call the FBO for the fuel truck BEFORE engine startup.
